A reader that does not
profit from you.

An RSS reader knows your interests better than almost any other app. Feedrium is funded by subscriptions rather than advertising — so there is no commercial reason to profile what you read.

Principles

What that means in practice.

Subscriptions, not ads

Feedrium is funded by paying users — Pro currently €0.95 a month. There are no ad slots in the product and no advertising partners.

Operated in Germany

The application runs on a server in Germany (IONOS). For normal operation your data does not leave the EU.

No ad tracking

Your reading behaviour is never passed to ad networks and never processed into advertising profiles.

No lock-in

OPML export is available on every plan, including the free one. You can move to another reader completely at any time.

No personalisation

There is no recommendation engine learning from your behaviour — simply because it would not improve a chronological feed.

No third-party account required

An email address and a password are enough. Signing in with Google is optional.

Transparency

What Feedrium stores — and why

For a reader to work, it has to know a few things. These:

  • Your account: an email address and a password hash so you can sign in.
  • Your sources: which feeds you subscribed to — otherwise there would be no feed.
  • Your read state: which articles are read, archived or bookmarked, so syncing between phone and desktop works.
  • Subscription status: whether and until when Pro is active, for billing.

This data is necessary for the product to function. It is not sold and not analysed for advertising. The full, legally binding description is in the privacy policy — this page is a plain-language summary, not a replacement for it.

Staying transparent also means saying this: this marketing website uses Google Analytics to see which pages get found. That is audience measurement for the website — not the product. Which articles you read in the app does not feed into it.

Why RSS is inherently less data-hungry

In a platform app you are permanently logged in, and every click lands in the same profile that also drives ad delivery. When you read via a reader, a server fetches feed files — the source does not see who opened which article, and no platform links your reading to your purchasing.

What you can do yourself

  1. Export your OPML regularly. Having your subscription list as a file makes you independent of any provider — including us.
  2. Start small. Fewer but better sources means less data everywhere and more articles actually read.
  3. Feeds instead of accounts. Wherever a source offers a feed, you do not need an account there.
Pricing
